The following post is by Nicole Truhe, Government Affairs Director at America Forward.
The Pay for Success (PFS) movement is growing, thanks to committed social innovators who are looking to shake up the status quo, build dynamic cross-sector partnerships, and drive resources to higher-impact social solutions.
As I noted in a recent blog post, policymakers in Washington are becoming more and more involved in the movement. Building on last year’s Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA), which included an America Forward-championed PFS provision, and a new round of Social Innovation Fund (SIF) PFS grants, members of Congress and other public officials have been looking for new ways to incentivize this approach across the country.
One such effort is the bi-partisan, bi-cameral Social Impact Partnerships (SIP) Act, which would test, pilot, and scale PFS to incentivize more efficient use of government resources and improve outcomes for those in need.
Join America Forward this Thursday for a briefing on SIP featuring leaders in the PFS movement including Rep. Todd Young (R-IN), Rep. John Delaney (D-MD), Third Sector Capital Partners, the University of Utah Policy Innovation Lab, and Social Finance. If you can’t make the event itself, follow @America_Forward on Twitter for live updates.

America Forward Capitol Hill Briefing:
“Pay for Success: Federal Policy Opportunities to Advance Outcomes-Based Practice”
Co-Sponsored by Reps. Todd Young (R-IN) and John Delaney (D-MD)
When: Thursday, June 18th, 10:00-11:00am
Where: Rayburn B-318, Washington DC
Join us for a bipartisan briefing focused on the federal role in advancing Pay for Success, with a special focus on the bi-partisan, bi-cameral Social Impact Partnership (SIP) Act. “Pay for Success” is a funding approach where government pays for services if a program gets results and drives government funding toward high quality, effective programs that measurably improve lives. Allowing government to support high-impact service providers and deliver more effective and efficient services to those in need, Pay for Success projects have increased across the country in just the past few years. The scale of these projects does not yet meet the demand and federal policy continues to be an important lever for investing in successful outcomes and scaling what works.Join our panel of experts to learn more about exciting projects happening across the country and the importance of the Social Impact Partnership Act in continuing to test, pilot, and scale this innovative approach to incentivize more efficient use of government resources and improve outcomes for those in need.
