Policy Ideas

The America Forward coalition believes we are at a critical point in our history. We sense a growing hunger for new approaches and powerful solutions that can solve the domestic problems facing our nation. It is time to develop a new understanding of the roles that government, nonprofits, businesses, and philanthropy should play in solving our social problems.

The America Forward coalition believes that the 21st century U.S. government should support innovation, partner with results-driven organizations, and emphasize results, not rules. It should release civic energy to expand available human and financial resources to solve problems, and act as an investor and catalyst for positive change rather than the entity that delivers or controls services.

We include here just a few of the ideas that the America Forward coalition has shared with policymakers. These ideas can provide a starting point for policymakers who seek innovative, replicable solutions to our country’s most difficult domestic challenges. They include a vision of the public sector that encourages innovation and invests in high-impact results in order to foster better ways of solving problems and ultimately achieve real change.
