Think New Mexico is a results-oriented, non-partisan, independent think tank seeking to improve the quality of life for all New Mexicans, especially working low and middle-income families. Think New Mexico develops effective, comprehensive, sustainable solutions to some of the most serious problems facing New Mexico. The group combines the traditional think tank research model with direct advocacy focused on educating the public, the media, and policymakers.

Results

  • Think New Mexico led an initiative to make full-day kindergarten accessible to every child in New Mexico, repealed the state's regressive tax on food, and created a Strategic River Reserve to protect and restore New Mexico's rivers.
  • Think New Mexico also helped establish the first state-supported Individual Development Accounts to alleviate New Mexico's persistent poverty.
  • Think New Mexico helped reform the state's lottery to reduce its excessive administrative costs and deliver $9 million more each year to college scholarships
