name

Root Cause advances enduring solutions to social and economic problems by supporting social innovators and educating social impact investors. Public Innovators, a nonpartisan Root Cause initiative, supports a new wave of government leaders at the city, state, and federal levels who identify and continuously support the most effective, efficient, and sustainable solutions to pressing social problems. Public Innovators builds off two Root Cause reports:

  • "Social Entrepreneurship and Government: A New Wave of Entrepreneurs Developing Solutions to Social Problems" published in The Small Business Economy: A Report to the President 2007 by the Small Business Administration Office Advocacy
  • Advancing Social Entrepreneurship: Recommendations for Policy Makers and Government Agencies, co-published by Root Cause and the Aspen Institutes

Results

  • Public Innovators has worked closely with the Louisiana Lt. Governor, first to develop, and now to implement the nation’s first statewide Office of Social Entrepreneurship. They are also supporting state initiatives to support social innovation and entrepreneurship in Virginia and Texas, as well as a local effort out of the Denver Mayor’s Office.
