New Leaders principals and residents are fast becoming a driving force for change in some of the country’s largest cities. New Leaders for New Schools promotes high academic achievement for every child by attracting, preparing, and supporting the next generation of outstanding leaders for our nation’s urban public schools. The New Leaders program has prepared and supported more than 330 passionate and results-oriented individuals who have an unyielding belief in the potential of all children to achieve academically, a record of success in leading adults, and demonstrated instructional knowledge.

Results

  • Over the past six years, the number of New Leaders principals has grown rapidly. Today, New Leaders principals are in more than 330 schools impacting the academic achievement of more than 165,000 students.
  • In most cities, schools led by New Leaders principals for at least two years are outperforming their school systems. Last year, 30 percent of New Leaders schools made academic achievement gains of at least 10 percent in reading and math.
