Horizons for Homeless Children is improving the lives of homeless children and their families by providing nurturing, stimulation, and opportunities for early education and play that all children need to learn and grow in healthy ways. The program connects parents with the tools they need to achieve social and economic self-sufficiency. It also provides leadership in advocating for homeless children and their families through leveraging and sharing expertise with others and advocating with policymakers and the public.

Results

  • A study conducted by the National Center on Family Homelessness finds that homeless children who participate in the Community Children’s Center program demonstrate higher achievement levels on developmental indicators than do their peers who are not in the program.
  • Families served at Horizons for Homeless Children achieve higher income levels and greater stability in employment and housing.
