Headquarters: New York, NY | Founded: 1987 | www.echoinggreen.org

Echoing Green is effecting social change by supporting committed social entrepreneurs with bold ideas and innovative approaches to entrenched problems that have resisted solutions until now. To facilitate the nascent visions of these emerging leaders, Echoing Green provides seed money, and technical, strategic, and network support to carefully selected Fellows. From working to stop the spread of HIV/AIDS among Nigerian youth to developing the first school for urban Native American children, Echoing Green seeks to create lasting social change.

Results

  • A recent study found that Echoing Green Fellows’ organizations have raised nearly $1 billion in additional funding, delivering a return on investment approximately 44 times Echoing Green’s seed funding. Echoing Green helps Fellows raise more money more quickly than their peers: 46 percent of Fellows’ organizations have budgets greater than $100,000 by year two, compared to only 20 percent of peer organizations.
  • Seventy-seven percent of organizations launched by Echoing Green Fellows are still in existence and 85 percent of Fellows remain in leadership positions in the social sector.
