Who are we?

The America Forward coalition is organized by New Profit Inc. and includes more than 60 results-oriented, entrepreneurial nonprofit organizations with programs operating in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Together, these organizations serve more than 10 million people per year and have a collective budget of more than $400 million. Coalition members and the America Forward effort focus directly on the toughest domestic challenges facing our nation in education, public health, poverty and economic mobility, workforce development, crime prevention, and civic engagement.

What do we want to achieve?

America Forward’s vision is that one day, our leaders and citizens will work together to foster innovation in the social sector, identify what works, and grow the best solutions to wherever they are needed. Our objectives are two-fold: 1) to introduce social entrepreneurship into the national dialogue, helping to fuel a discussion about new, more effective ways to solve domestic problems; and 2) to advance a policy agenda that will create an infrastructure for social entrepreneurs and government to act together to scale the impact of solutions that work.

Why now?

The American people are looking for new solutions to seemingly intractable social challenges. They are calling for change, but political stalemates, government red tape, and entrenched special interests persist as barriers to new solutions and innovative ideas. Yet, in communities across the country, social entrepreneurs are overcoming these barriers, creating organizations that get results, and demonstrating how we can make a real difference. This is the type of change people want. The America Forward coalition believes it is time to identify support for these inventive and highly effective solutions and realize measurable change.

Statement of Nonpartisanship

America Forward is a nonpartisan coalition of social entrepreneurs and high-impact organizations who believe a public policy approach that incorporates the principles of innovation, performance, competition, accountability, and results will generate solutions to otherwise intractable social problems. America Forward and its coalition members do not endorse any candidates for public office. America Forward intends to report on important political campaign issues and activities related to its mission to help fuel a discussion about new, more effective ways to solve domestic problems, and to advance a policy agenda that will create an infrastructure for social entrepreneurs and government to act together to scale the impact of solutions that work.
