Michelle Obama meets with America Forward Organizations
Michelle Obama is on the campaign trail, calling for a renewed commitment to service and promoting the work of social entrepreneurs who are working in communities to solve the tough challenges they face. As a social entrepreneur herself who has committed her life to public service, Michelle has highlighted service as part of her story and is working to make service a top priority for the nation. Her story of service has been pronounced throughout this convention—from meeting with service and social entrepreneur organizations on the tarmac when she arrived on Sunday, to highlighting her experience with Public Allies in her speech on Monday, to participating in a service event this morning where she assembled care packages for troops in Iraq, to co-sponsoring the Delegate Service Day with Colorado's First Lady Jeannie Ritter, Michelle has made her mark on this convention—and it is a mark of service and the impact we can have when we invest in the energy and innovation of our citizens to solve the challenges facing our nation. As she said in her speech on Monday night, “By highlighting the importance of community service during the convention, we hope that thousands of Americans will take home with them a renewed inspiration for addressing our country's toughest challenges through unity and service," Michelle Obama said.
