"The nonprofit sector is America's best hope for solving the pressing problems facing its communities," writes Shirley Sagawa in a recent article in Democracy Journal.

Sagawa calls for a Small Business Association (SBA) for nonprofit organizations that would provide both funding and guidance to the nonprofit sector. This government agency would provide training in technology implementation, finance growth, and would serve as an advocate for nonprofits within the political structure. The concept of an SBA for nonprofit organizations has informed America Forward’s proposal for a Commission on Public-Private Partnerships.
